About us

The Seasans Carriage Company Ltd was recently established by Modris Kesans and Samantha Searle who have been involved in the carriage driving industry for many years. With a wealth of knowledge between them, their lives have been dedicated to carriage driving with many years experience driving different turnouts, carriages and a wide variety of horses, ponies and donkeys.

With a growing interest in carriage driving and a gap in the market for appropriate carriages, they decided to use their knowledge and commission an established reputable Polish carriage builder. Considerable time and resources were expensed in designing a new range of innovative carriages that have the highest specification for all types and size of equines.

All the carriages  are manufactured to the customers own individual requirements featuring the highest quality standards. From constructing the basic framework to the upholstery, to the final powder coating and painting of the coach lines – every part is done by highly skilled craftsmen who have a fine eye for attention to detail.

With exceptional knowledge in the carriage driving industry from training, showing, competitions and commercial, we pride ourselves on being able to give the best possible advice on harness fitting, carriage suitability and any other help you may need along your journey to become the best carriage driver you can be.

Modris Kesans

Modris Kesans

Modris is a master of horse-drawn carriage driving. He started driving at 13 years old – some 60 years ago – and started working commercially in 1989 providing South Wales with horse drawn weddings and funerals. His business has now expanded, with a variety of carriages and horses available for both occasions and providing a service all over the south west of the country. Modris is more then just a driver – he is a true master of his craft. He has had a prolific showing career, showing and winning at many county shows, qualifying for HOYS three times and achieving 3rd place in 2010 with a pair of Friesians that were used for the commercial work. He has now down sized and regularly competes at AIAT events throughout the UK with his pair of fells – taking Champion at Beamish in 2023.

Modris is also heavily involved with the British Driving Society, previously being the Chair for Wales for many years, has been on the BDS Council for over a decade and now Chairman of the Training and Education programme. He has an unparalleled level of knowledge about anything and everything carriage driving – he brings a new level of expertise that is hard to find anywhere else.

As time progresses and we see the older generation give up their sport, the younger generation need education, help and encouragement which we strive to give. By designing and producing this new range of carriages and harness, we hope to help both newcomers and the more experienced to achieve their goals, use equipment which is safe and of the highest specification but at an affordable price.
